Carbon Footprint Calculator

Carbon Footprint Calculator

This carbon calculator allows us to estimate your flight impact on climate. It is based on French Bilan Carbone® methodology developed by French Agency for Environment and Energy Management (ADEME). The methodological principles were initially drawn up for the Bilan Carbone’s use in industrialised countries. It can be applied in other geographical areas, but need to be adjusted. That is why, the English version of our carbon calculator only offers to evaluate the greenhouse gas emissions related to your flight.

Several gases, including carbon dioxide (CO2), are responsible for the so-called greenhouse effect. This is a natural phenomenon and necessary for our existence. Without it, the average temperature of the Earth’s surface would be about -18°C, which would prohibit the development of life. Nevertheless, the greenhouse effect is a phenomenon that is extremely sensitive to variations in atmosphere composition. Human activities which have an impact on atmosphere composition therefore cause climate changes. Indeed, greenhouse gases are emitted when we fly, we drive, we work…. It is important to take into account all the impact of our activities on climate, and to act accordingly trying to reduce our carbon footprint.
